PokéVersus beginner's guide
PokéVersus is a free 3v3 Pokémon game in the browser, in the style of Brawl Stars. Here is everything you need for your first matches.
Controls
| Action | PC | Phone / tablet |
|---|---|---|
| Move | WASD or arrow keys | Left joystick |
| Attack | Click to aim and fire, or Space to auto-aim | Right joystick (tap to auto-aim) |
| Super | Hold E, aim, release; X cancels. Q auto-aims | Super joystick (it appears once the super is charged) |
| Mega | F | Mega button (△ on a controller) |
How a match goes
- Pick a mode and a Pokémon (see all modes). You play your Pokémon's first form and evolve during the match, see evolution.
- Your super charges by landing basic attacks: the number of hits needed depends on the role (tank 5–8, fighter 7–8, assassin 6–7, sniper 5–9, thrower 5–5).
- Tall grass hides you. Trees, rocks and barrels block shots and movement; water blocks walking but not shots. Many supers can break rocks and trees.
- When you are knocked out you respawn after 4 seconds with 1.5 seconds of shield (except in Knockout, which has no respawns).
- Your health starts regenerating 3 seconds after you last took damage.
The five roles
Every Pokémon is assigned a role from its real stats, and the role decides how it shoots. The numbers vary a little between Pokémon.
| Role | Pokémon | Base health | Speed | Reload | Style |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tank | 90 | 2,900–6,550 | 139–153 | 1.7 s | Soaks up damage and fires a close-range fan of shots. |
| Fighter | 169 | 3,150–4,850 | 148–175 | 1.35 s | Balanced: three shots at mid range. |
| Assassin | 106 | 2,950–4,500 | 178–196 | 0.85 s | Fast, with a quick double shot, easy to get away with. |
| Sniper | 89 | 2,450–4,100 | 141–168 | 1.4 s | Fragile, but one long-range shot hits hard. |
| Thrower | 37 | 4,300–5,450 | 135–145 | 1.8 s | Lobs attacks over walls; sturdy and a bit slow. |
Picking a team
- Mix roles: one front-liner (tank), one damage dealer, one support (healer or shield).
- Look at the enemy's types on the type chart: a ×1.3 matchup is a real edge, since multipliers are softened.
- Rarity is how the game sorts Pokémon for unlocking (Starter, Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary), not how strong they are.
